Dry Salt Therapy

History of Salt Therapy

Salt therapy has been around since the beginning of time and has been used throughout history in numerous ways. Salt is one of the essential ingredients that constitutes life and has also been utilized in various therapeutic, healing and medicinal purposes, including saline solutions, nebulizers, skin scrubs, salt baths, Nettie pots, etc... all commonly known as "wet" salt therapy. Thanks to technological innovations, another aspect of salt therapy has emerged where the main health benefit comes from the salt's quality to absorb moisture. This is called Dry Salt Therapy, also known as Halotherapy.

Today, Halotherapy is being provided throughout Europe, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and other areas as a natural, complimentary way of improving general wellness, respiratory issues, skin conditions, detoxification, athletic performance and more.

The amazing benefits of salt therapy (Halotherapy) was first noted in the mid-1800's with the observation that salt mine workers rarely suffered from any colds, respiratory ailments or lung disease. People with asthma, allergies, emphysema and other respiratory problems began spending time in salt mines (or salt caves) to improve their health. Although relatively new to the U.S., dry salt therapy is frequently utilized in many countries of Eastern Europe for these health purposes. Today, modern technology allows these benefits of a salt mine to be brought to you... right here at Skilled Touch Health & Healing!

Dry Salt Therapy

How It Works

Dry, pure grade (99.99%) sodium chloride is heated and then ground into very tiny micro-particles in a machine, called a Halo generator. These dry aerosol micro-particles of salt are then dispersed into a salt booth or chamber, resembling a phone booth, during a typical session. As you relax in the salt booth, the micro-particles are inhaled as well as land on your skin. These particles penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli as well as into the deeper layers of the skin.

Dry Salt Therapy A typical session lasts 10 minutes. During the session, you will be surrounded by a very fine aerosol of dry salt particles. You may relax, read, meditate or simply just rest! Cell phones, tablets and electronics are not permitted in the salt booth since being exposed to the salt could be corrosive. You will want to wear comfortable clothing; consider wearing shorts or t-shirts to expose your skin to receive additional benefit.

Salt therapy works due to its three main characteristics of... dry salt is super absorbent, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial! Because the microscopic salt particles penetrate deep into the respiratory system and into the skin, excess mucous, allergens and foreign elements in the respiratory system are absorbed. The constricted airways open and the further spread of bacteria and viruses is halted.

Breathe Easy with Dry Salt Therapy

Did you know that only 20-25% of the drug used in asthma inhalers travels into the lower airways? And 75-80% of the medicine deposits in your throat and mouth?

Dry salt therapy is the only treatment that will treat the whole respiratory tract!
